How is Fabric Made?

Ever wondered how a cotton plant becomes a bed sheet? Here’s a simplified step by step guide to make it easy for you!

Step 1: The cotton seed is planted
Step 2: Five to six months later the cotton fibres are ready to be harvested
Step 3: The fibres go through a process called ginning where the seeds, twigs etc. are removed
Step 4: The cleaned fibres go through a process called spinning where the fibres are twisted together to form yarn
Step 5: The yarn is then woven (interlaced) into fabric
Step 6: The woven fabric then goes through a process called finishing where various techniques are used to allow the fabric to take dye better, control shrinkage, improve sheen and more
Step 7: The final fabric is then stitched into bedding, clothes and more!

P.S. - Don’t forget to check out our blog post Bed Linens 101 to understand how these processes affect the quality, thread count, and the feel of your bedding, and how you can make the most informed decision about your sleep!
